The Story of His Maid (Season 2- Eng. Sub.- Multi Sub.)

 

The strict social rules of the 19th century and the unseen pressures of aristocratic life continue to shape the characters’ lives in the second season in much harsher ways. After returning to the city following long and exhausting years of war, Count Nikolay Sheremetyev finds himself facing a very different kind of struggle than he had expected. His greatest enemies are no longer those he faced on the battlefield, but the expectations of his family, the pressures of society, and the difficult decisions he must make about his own future.

As one of the most sought-after bachelors of his time, Nikolay’s life takes an unexpected turn because of the conditions attached to his family inheritance. If he fails to marry within the given period, he will lose his vast fortune, turning marriage from a personal choice into an unavoidable obligation. Before long, his mansion becomes a constant gathering place for different families and potential brides hoping to win his favor.

Yet what may appear to be a privilege from the outside gradually becomes an overwhelming burden for Nikolay. The women chosen for him, the plans made on his behalf, and the life society expects him to lead increasingly clash with his own desires. As time passes, Nikolay begins to question the aristocratic world around him and realizes just how artificial and suffocating its rules can be.

While Nikolay struggles with the pressure to marry, a far more devastating family tragedy unfolds elsewhere in the story. Ilya, a member of a respected family, loses his entire fortune because of his gambling addiction, pushing not only himself but his family into a severe financial crisis. The life of comfort and security they once knew begins to fall apart as the consequences of his choices become impossible to hide.

Ilya’s wife, Lena, makes every effort to preserve their family’s social position and reputation. However, their problems go far beyond financial loss. Mounting debts, desperation, and the threat of losing their status force the members of the family to confront one another as well as their own conscience.

Through this storyline, the series reveals the fragility hidden behind the apparent splendor of aristocratic life. Wealth and high social status cannot completely protect anyone from the consequences of poor choices.

Faced with her family’s desperate situation, Anna is forced to make one of the most difficult choices of her life. Although she was born into an aristocratic family, she is willing to put aside her pride and abandon the life she has always known in order to secure her family’s future.

Anna’s decision to become a servant becomes one of the most important turning points in the story. Her choice is not simply an economic necessity; it also forces her to leave behind the social world she knows and enter a life she has never experienced before.
